Learn More About C&J’s Green & Sustainability Efforts

Did you know that one C&J motorcoach can replace up to 49 automobiles on the highway? Or that C&J motorcoaches provide 184 passenger miles per gallon, which is more than twice as efficient as the next closest transportation option?

At C&J, we believe in comfort, convenience, and environmental consciousness. We strive to provide the greenest mode of transportation to the New England region without compromising luxury, because at the end of the day, we are always aiming to be an all-around sustainable company.

In honor of April being Earth Month, with Earth Day falling tomorrow, April 22, we want to reiterate our commitment to the environment. Here are just a few of the measures we take to go—and stay—green in everything we do. Be sure to check out our new infographic for even more information on our sustainable efforts!

Vehicle Efficiency

Motorcoaches are more fuel-efficient than automobiles, commercial aviation, and Amtrak or other train services. With this in mind, C&J aims to surpass even that lofty standard for motorcoaches by using state-of-the-art technology and implementing environmentally conscious practices.

We make sure that our vehicles are using the most advanced technology—like our Michelin high-efficiency wheels—which has enabled us to decrease our emissions by 90 percent. All C&J buses feature state-of-the-art technology that allows us to monitor speeds, idling and braking patterns to ensure we’re managing our fleet as efficiently as possible.

To further our green efforts on board, we strain and re-use waste oil to reduce our overall consumption. C&J also makes a point of recycling all cardboard, paper, and plastics that are left on our buses and that are used in our facilities.

Going Above and Beyond

Having fuel-efficient vehicles isn’t enough for us, though. As a company, we aren’t satisfied with a “band-aid” solution to environmental issues, which is why we go above and beyond to make sure that all aspects of our company adhere to environmentally friendly standards, including our facilities which are run on energy-efficient LEDs. These many initiatives have earned us a Certificate for Sustainable Transportation.

We are proud to be part of a bigger green movement. Our participation in the Adopt-a-Highway program allows us to give back to our local communities and keep the roads clean. We are also a member stakeholder of the Granite State Clean Cities Coalition, an organization that seeks to reduce petroleum use in transportation, and all of our operators are trained in sustainable transportation best practices, earning us the eRating Certification.
