C&J Lines Rules & Regulations Policy


When using online tickets, you must travel from the locations purchased. You must present valid photo identification along with your electronic ticket in order to board the bus. Travel must be from the locations, date and time specified on the ticket. Logan Airport travelers with luggage to be placed under the bus in the luggage compartments will require a C&J issued terminal luggage tag. Tags will be provided based upon the passenger's terminal destination at Logan Airport. The following tag options are available: Terminals A, B1, B2, C and E. C&J Agents/Drivers at our terminals will have tags available prior to boarding.

Ticket Limitations & Restrictions

C&J Lines will not be responsible for delays caused by road conditions, weather, or other conditions beyond the carriers' control. Connections are not guaranteed and schedules are subject to change without notice. Tickets are non-transferable and, if presented for transportation by any person other than the one for whom originally purchased, will be void and may be confiscated by a C&J Bus Lines personnel. General Information

Reservations are required for all C&J service. Passengers can make reservations online at www.ridecj.com. Tickets are non-transferable and must be used on the selected date and time of travel. See our full ticketing policies.

Your reservation may be canceled prior to the date and time of departure. Cancellations can be made by calling C&J customer care at (603) 430-1100 or by cancelling directly in your C&J account and will result in a C&J credit that is stored in your account. All Credits are valid for 365 days from the date they are issued.

All rebooking requests must be made by modifying your reservation online or by contacting the 
C&J Information Centerat(603) 430-1100. There are no fees to change your reservations online up to the time of departure. All phone rebooking requests are subject to a $5 per-passenger fee.  A per-passenger refund fee will be applied to all tickets regardless of the ticket type (excluding 10-ride passes and Airport Employee tickets, which are non-refundable). An expired or used ticket is not valid for a refund or transportation.

Photo Identification — Will be required for all passengers traveling with an adult ticket. Children with no photo ID must be accompanied by an adult with a photo ID upon purchasing tickets.

Children's Fares and Kids Ride Free Program — For all C&J buses to Boston's South Station or Logan Airport, one (1) child 16 years-of-age or younger may ride free on buses to Boston/Logan Airport when accompanied by a full-fare ticketed adult. Only one child may ride free with each adult (adult must be 21 years of age or over). If you are traveling with multiple children; the kids ½ fare is available for children 16 and under, age 17 and over are considered an adult fare.

Unaccompanied Children — All children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18 years of age or over) when traveling on C&J Bus Lines. Unaccompanied children under the age of 16 are not permitted to travel on C&J.

Luggage Allowance — Your first two bags are always free! Bags must not exceed 62 linear inches (length + width + height) or 50 pounds in total weight. While not subject to a surcharge, overweight bags shall be marked as such and may be the responsibility of the passenger to both load and unload from the motor coach. If it is deemed that said bag does not present a potential injury risk to a C&J employee, she or he will provide assistance in safe responsible manner. Additional bags may result in an additional fee of $10.00 per bag.

Baggage Liability — $250 per adult fare ticket, $150 per half-fare ticket. C&J is not liable for loss or damage of luggage delivered to our employee for transportation in our baggage compartments, in an amount exceeding the above limits. No liability is granted for personal carry-on items.

Identification of Baggage — Government Regulation and Carrier's Tariffs require that all baggage must be properly identified. Luggage Tags should clearly show the name and address to which lost baggage should be forwarded. Free luggage tags are available at all ticket windows and baggage counters. Please reclaim your baggage promptly upon arrival.

Heavy Luggage Policy — C&J Agents and Drivers are not required to handle luggage weighing in excess of 50 lbs/ 23 kg. Overweight luggage will be tagged "HEAVY" by the Agents alerting Drivers and Handlers NOT to handle the Luggage. Passengers must handle their own overweight luggage. If a passenger is unable to handle their overweight luggage it is at the discretion of the C&J employees whether they can handle the overweight luggage in a safe and injury-free manner.

Misc. Sporting Equipment — Sporting equipment (bicycles/surfboards etc.) may be carried free and placed in the luggage compartments of the coach as part of the, 2-piece Luggage Allowance on a SPACE AVAILABILITY BASIS ONLY. Oversized items may be removed at our Newburyport Terminal to accommodate remaining passengers' luggage. It is the responsibility of the passenger to ensure their oversized items transfer.

Freight Service — C&J does not offer freight service.

Cell Phone Policy — C&J respectfully requests, for the comfort and safety of all passengers, customers refrain from cellular phone use while onboard a C&J Coach.

Smoking — Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes is strictly prohibited on any C&J bus.

Objectionable Persons — Passengers may ride onboard a C&J motor coach as long as they display behavior that is reasonable and safe. C&J reserves the right to refuse transportation and/or the removal from a C&J operated facility to any person under the influence of intoxicating beverages or drugs unable to care for themselves, or whose conduct is likely to be such as to make them objectionable to other passengers or C&J Representatives. Choosing to engage in unacceptable behavior will result in loss of bus service and/or use of C&J operated facilities. Should the behavior continue the local authorities will be notified. A suspension applies to all services unless otherwise designated by C&J officials.

Passenger Accessibility — C&J is pleased to provide assistance to our passengers who travel utilizing mobility/wheelchair equipment. Lift equipped motor coaches are accessible from all C&J service locations. It is important to note that there are size and weight limitations in order to ensure that lift equipment functions properly along with rules pertaining to existing passengers who may be subject to relocation to accommodate your needs. In the event that you wish to travel without the use of your mobility devise, priority seating is available in the first row of the motor coach. A C&J team member is readily available to assist you in accessing these seats. Disabled passenger shall always be pre-boarded whenever possible.

Animals — C&J permits service animals to accompany individuals with disabilities in vehicles and facilities, in accordance with Code of Federal Regulations 49 Part 37.167(d). C&J's Carry-On Pet Program allows passengers to transport their small cat or dog on the bus. See our full pet policy here.

Holidays — C&J will operate a holiday schedules on the following Days and days surrounding the holiday: Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, the day following Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day.
