Check out these great family-friendly activities minutes away from South Station.

New England Aquarium

Explore the aquatic world! The aquarium offers a range of exhibits, including the largest shark and ray touch tank on the East Coast and a four-story coral reef featuring hundreds of Caribbean animals.

Directions from South Station: Head northeast on Atlantic Ave toward Congress St. Turn right onto Milk St. Roughly a 10-minute walk.

Boston Children’s Museum

The Museum’s exhibits and programs emphasize hands-on learning through experience and playing as a tool to spark creativity, curiosity, and imagination in children. Designed for both children and families, Museum exhibits focus on science, environment, arts, and more!

Directions from South Station: Head southeast on Summer St toward Dorchester Ave. Turn left onto Dorchester Ave. Turn right onto Congress St, your destination will be on the left. Roughly a 5-minute walk.

Boston Pizza Tours

Who doesn’t love pizza? Discover historic Boston slice by delicious slice with Boston Pizza Tours. Experience fun and educational sightseeing tours, while exploring Boston’s oldest neighborhoods. Offering weekend tours Saturdays & Sundays only, from December through March. Reservations required.

Directions from South Station: Take the Red Line towards Alewife, 2 stops to Park Street. Switch here for the Green Line. Take the C train towards North Station, 2 stops till you arrive at Haymarket. Walk up to Hanover street.

Puppet Showplace Theater – Trickster Tales

Can a spider defeat an elephant at tug-of-war? Overpower a python? With Anansi the Spider, world famous trickster, all things are possible…if you have a plan! This show brings traditional stories to life with beautifully expressive rod puppets, colorful scenery, original music, and fun special effects. It’s a high-energy show with lots of laughs! Recommended for everyone ages 4 and up.

Directions from South Station: Take the green line D train towards Riverside. Stopping at Brookline Village. Puppet Showplace Theater is located across the street at 32 Station St in Brookline, MA.

Freedom Trail

Walk into History along the iconic Freedom Trail. The 2.5-mile red line leading to nationally significant historic sites, is a collection of museums, churches, meeting houses, burying grounds, parks, a ship, and historic markers that tell the story of the American Revolution and beyond. You can choose to do this tour as part of a group, an audio tour, or a self-guided tour.

Directions from South Station: Take the Red Line towards Alewife, 2 stops to Park Street. Walk to the Boston Common Visitors Center, that’s where the Freedom Trail begins.
