C&J Lines Rules & Regulations Policy


Ticket Use and Travel Requirements
  • All passengers must travel from the locations, on the date and time specified on their ticket.

  • A valid government-issued photo ID must be presented along with your ticket when boarding.

  • Travelers to Logan Airport with checked luggage must obtain a C&J-issued terminal luggage tag. Tags are issued based on your Logan terminal destination: Terminals A, B1, B2, C, or E. Tags are available from C&J agents and drivers before boarding.


Ticket Restrictions and Limitations

  • C&J is not liable for delays caused by traffic, weather, or circumstances beyond our control.

  • Connections between services are not guaranteed, and schedules are subject to change without notice.

  • Tickets are non-transferable. If a ticket is used by someone other than the original purchaser, it is considered void and may be confiscated.

Reservations and Cancellations

  • Reservations are required for all C&J services and can be made at www.ridecj.com.

  • Tickets are non-transferable and valid only for the booked date and time.

  • All reservations may be canceled before the scheduled departure time. Cancel online through your C&J account or by calling Customer Care at (603) 430-1100.

  • Canceled trips are issued as C&J travel credits, valid for 365 days from issuance.

  • Rebooking can be done online or by contacting our Information Center. There is no fee for changes made before departure.

  • Expired or used tickets are not eligible for rebooking, refund, or travel.


Refunds

  • Refunds are available on refundable fare types prior to departure and are subject to a $5 fee per passenger. 

  • To request a refund for a ticket purchase, contact the C&J Information Center at (603) 430-1100.


Parking at C&J Locations

  • Paid parking is available at all terminals on a first-come, first-served basis (maximum duration: 30 days).

  • Due to limited availability, we recommend arranging drop-off during peak travel times.

  • If parking is full at the Portsmouth terminal, valet service is available for travelers leaving their vehicles onsite.


Photo Identification

  • A valid photo ID is required for all passengers traveling on an adult fare.

  • Children without photo ID must be accompanied by an adult with valid identification at the time of ticket purchase.


Children’s Travel Policy

  • Kids Ride Free: One child age 16 or under may ride free on trips to Boston South Station or Logan Airport when accompanied by a fare-paying adult (21+). Only one free child per adult.

  • Children’s Fares: Additional children under 16 may travel at half fare. Passengers aged 17 and above must purchase an adult fare.

  • Unaccompanied Minors: Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (18+). Unaccompanied minors are not permitted to travel.


Luggage Policy

  • Each passenger may check up to three (3) pieces of luggage (each within 62 linear inches or 50 lbs).

  • Overweight luggage (over 50 lbs) must be managed by the passenger unless C&J staff can assist safely. Such luggage will be marked as “HEAVY.”

  • Additional luggage may incur a fee of $10 per item, space permitting.


Liability and Baggage Identification

  • C&J's baggage liability is limited to:

    • $250 per adult fare ticket

    • $150 per half-fare ticket

  • C&J is not responsible for carry-on items or items exceeding the stated liability.

  • All luggage must be tagged with the passenger's name and contact information. Free luggage tags are available at terminals.

  • Prompt baggage retrieval upon arrival is required.


Sporting Equipment

  • Sporting equipment (e.g., bicycles, surfboards) is permitted as part of your 3-piece luggage allowance on a space-available basis.

  • Oversized items may be removed at the Seabrook Terminal if space is needed for other passengers’ luggage. Passengers are responsible for ensuring such items are properly transferred.


Freight Services

  • C&J does not offer freight shipping services.


Onboard Policies

  • Cell Phones: We request passengers limit phone use onboard to maintain a quiet and comfortable environment.

  • Smoking: Smoking and use of electronic cigarettes are strictly prohibited on all C&J buses.

  • Behavioral Standards: C&J reserves the right to refuse service to individuals under the influence, unable to care for themselves, or acting in a disruptive or unsafe manner. Failure to comply may result in removal and/or notification of local authorities. Suspensions may apply across all C&J services and locations.


Accessibility

  • C&J is committed to providing accessible transportation to passengers with mobility needs. All service locations are served by lift-equipped buses.

  • Size and weight restrictions may apply to mobility devices to ensure lift functionality.

  • Priority seating is available for those not using their mobility device during travel. Pre-boarding is offered whenever possible.


Animals

  • Service Animals: Permitted in accordance with CFR 49 Part 37.167(d).

  • Pet Program: Small cats and dogs may travel under our carry-on pet policy. Please review the full pet policy at www.ridecj.com.
