C&J NY Gate Change: Starting July 14, 2024
Starting Sunday, July 14, 2024, all C&J arrivals and departures at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC will be relocated to Gate 36.
For one week at the beginning of every September, the entire world turns its attention on New York City. New York Fashion Week is one of the most important events in the art, design, and fashion world. For many, it’s a chance to be completely immersed in fashion and learn more about designers and modern style. If you’ve always wanted to attend New York Fashion Week, or if you’re going to be in the city during the same week, we’ve compiled some can’t-miss events and activities to enjoy while you’re there.
Traveling to New York City and NYFW is easy with C&J Bus Lines. Catch one of our buses from Tewksbury, Portsmouth, or Dover and ride with us to Port Authority in Manhattan. You can enjoy our free Wi-Fi, spacious seating, and refreshments while you travel, and you will rest easy knowing that we’ll get you to the city on time. Pack your most stylish outfit, buy tickets, and get on the way to NYC!
When the Met says “camp,” they’re not referring to what people do in the woods. Camp: Notes on Fashion is an amazing exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum that “…examines how the elements of irony, humor, parody, pastiche, artifice, theatricality, and exaggeration are expressed in fashion.” It’s an incredibly fun way to spend a few hours looking at fashion dating all the way from the seventeenth century to the present day. The exhibition ends on September 8, right in the middle of NYFW, so make sure you see it before it closes!
If you want to take a step up from touring the Met’s Camp exhibition, you can get a private tour of the Met’s costume collection. This collection is normally only open to students and designers by appointment, but you can join this intimate tour of the collection led by Margaret Samu from the Parsons School of Design.
Honor fashion week by checking out the FIT’s exhibition: Paris, Capital of Fashion. It opens on September 6, so if you miss the end of the Met’s Camp exhibition, come here instead. On display will be outfits and accessories that span several centuries of Parisian fashion. Or, visit the Minimalism/Maximalism exhibition to see contrasting fashion styles with examples from dozens of talented designers.
For many of us, actually attending New York Fashion Week is nearly impossible. But that doesn’t mean you can’t surround yourself with beautiful fashion created by talented and world-renowned designers: head to SoHo for some of the best thrifting in the city. Stores like A Second Chance, The RealReal, Rebag, and plenty more will satisfy all your fashion week designer needs.
The saying “Instagram eats first” absolutely applies when talking about While We Were Young, one of New York’s most stylish restaurants. You won’t be able to resist snapping a quick picture of your meal before you dive in! We love their lemon poppy seed French toast for brunch, or spicy chicken dumplings for dinner (the food tastes just as good as it looks). If you’re in more of a rush, pick up a spicy tuna salad bowl or a tasty acai bowl from the Broken Coconut. You may even run into a couple of NYFW models while you’re there!
There’s a reason why fashion week is hosted in New York City– it’s a stylish place! Ride with C&J Bus Lines to NYC to see gorgeous museum exhibitions, learn more about fashion, and even go shopping to find your own stylish treasures! We make getting to the city simple and stress-free. All our buses are fully equipped with climate-controlled cabins, reclining seats with legroom, Wi-Fi, free snacks, and power outlets! To make your trip even easier, use our free interactive map of the city to help yourself get around.
