Things to Do in NYC

Our Favorite Things to Do in NYC With Kids for Spring Vacation

Spring vacation is nearly here, so it’s time for a quick getaway with the kids. In search of some activities that are bound to be fun for the whole family? A weekend trip to New York City is a great way to spend quality time with your loved ones while experiencing everything the city has to offer. When you ride with C&J, the trip is fast, comfortable, and completely stress-free. With service from Dover, Portsmouth, and the Merrimack Valley, you can avoid the hassle of traveling through the city of Boston to get to NYC.

After C&J Bus Lines drops you off at our Port Authority terminal, there are virtually endless options of things to do. Here are just a few things that you’re guaranteed to enjoy!

1. Butterfly Conservatory

Caught in an April shower? Stay dry and head over to the Butterfly Conservatory in the American Museum of Natural History. Over 500 live butterflies and plants flutter inside this tropical paradise. You can watch them fly around and land on you while learning about all the different species of butterflies. It’s truly an unforgettable experience!

3. Rockefeller Center

Sure, it’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city, but for good reason! New York’s Rockefeller Center remains a great photo opportunity for the whole family. This April, check out the Frieze Sculpture and other new sculptures by international artists. When you’re done, take a tour of NBC Studios to peek behind the scenes of shows like Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and more. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

4. The 2019 Cherry Blossom Festival

Celebrate spring in New York City! On April 13th, pack a picnic lunch and attend the Cherry Blossom Festival on Roosevelt Island. There will be traditional Japanese performances and a tea ceremony. It’s a great way to spend some time outside with the family and enjoy the gorgeous blooming cherry trees.

5. Baking and Pastry Classes

The Institute of Culinary Education offers countless cooking classes that are fun for all ages. We especially love the Chocolate Workshop. Book ahead to reserve your place in a hands-on baking or cooking class. You’ll learn something new and you’ll get to sample some delicious treats!

6. Gotham West Market

Hungry for a more filling meal? Head over to the Gotham West Market, where you and the kids can choose from seven different restaurants all under the same roof! There’s something for even the pickiest of eaters. When you’re done, be sure to grab some cones from Ample Hills Creamery on your way out. We love their special edition Peanut Butter Jamboree (but every flavor is good).

Whether you’re planning on a quick weekend trip or a whole week in New York City, your family will have no shortage of things to do. C&J makes NYC a convenient destination for spring vacation. Stretch out and relax while we do all the driving! If you’re ready to start planning your trip to NYC, check out our schedules and buy your tickets today.
