We recently announced our fairer fare adjustment which lets us bring everyone together for low fares by eliminating a few niche discounts. If you haven’t read our post on our fairer fare program, you can find it here.
The updates to our fare structure let us continue to provide a high level of customer service as well as continue to make improvements to your overall travel experience. You can view our fairer fare structure here. Below are answers to some common questions about our new fairer fare plans.
Why did you eliminate discounts?
To offer all of our passengers one low fare, we reduced a few niche discounts such as seniors, military and students. We did this so we could offer lower one-way fares to Logan Airport and South Station to for as many riders as possible. We’ve also simplified our fares by reducing more than 24 fare classes down to five fares.
Why has the 21 Day Pass gone from 10 tickets to six tickets?
Our original 10-ride pass was designed to be used in one week by daily commuters. But in recent years, many of our commuters have adjusted their work schedules and are commuting just one or two days per week. With our new six-ride option, commuters who ride less frequently don’t have to worry about their tickets expiring before they can use them. And for our true daily commuters, our monthly pass is a great deal and the perfect fit as it allows unlimited travel between the Greater Seacoast and Boston – either to Logan or to South Station.
Can kids still ride free?
Yes. Kids Ride Free is now applicable to one-way and round-trip tickets to Boston’s Logan International Airport and Boston’s South Station, except for same-day round trip tickets.
Same Day Round Trip to South Station: For any same-day, round-trip tickets to South Station, an adult can bring up to two kids 18 and younger for just $5 for each child.
Why do my tickets look different?
In an effort to streamline your riding experience, we have redesigned our tickets to help both our riders and our customer service representatives more quickly identify destinations and expiration dates.
