Jan 22, 2019

Are you ready for a quick winter escape? Ride the C&J coach to New York City for an easy weekend trip! C&J offers convenient and safe bus travel from the Seacoast and Merrimack Valley to New York City. You can enjoy free Wi-Fi, extra legroom, in-coach entertainment and refreshments that make your trip a breeze. If that’s not convincing enough, we’re very excited about our partnership with Marriott Hotels to bring C&J riders a 15 percent discount on stays in New York City!

The big city is always bustling, but this is the best time of year to avoid crowds. You won’t need to wait in long lines at the Broadway box office or at the zoo! Since there’s so much to do while you’re in the Big Apple, here’s a list of some of our favorite kid- and family-friendly NYC winter events to take in while you’re visiting.

Become a Bread-Baking Expert

Not a Michelin-starred chef? Don’t sweat it! The Brooklyn Bread Lab offers small, hands-on bread baking workshops. Attendees will learn how to make dough, bake the bread, and have the opportunity to discover more about the science behind bread. By the end, you’ll be a bread-baking expert. This class makes a great date night for you and your loved one or a fun way to spend an evening with friends or family.

Explore Central Park on a Guided Tour

Get some fresh air with this tour of NYC’s iconic Central Park! This guided tour will give you an insider’s look at how the beautiful park was built and provide history about some of the most important landmarks that live there. After the hour-and-a-half walk, warm up to a delicious meal at the Tavern on the Green, a Central Park staple since 1934.

Visit Madagascar! at the Bronx Zoo

Discover Madagascar without the twenty-hour flight: the Bronx Zoo’s Madagascar! exhibit features lemurs, boa constrictors, Nile crocodiles, and much, much more. You’ll feel like you’re in the jungle! Children and adults alike love to watch the agile lemurs leaping from tree to tree. Make a day trip out of it and check out the rest of the zoo, which features exhibits such as Tiger Mountain, the Sea Lion Pool, and Jungleworld.

View Andy Warhol’s Art at the Whitney

The Whitney Museum of American Art’s current exhibit of Andy Warhol’s work is one to remember. Andy Warhol – From A to B and Back Again showcases some of Warhol’s most iconic works of art as well as an in-depth look into his life. The galleries are peaceful this time of year because there are fewer tourists in the city. Spend an afternoon at the Whitney and then have a delicious dinner at Hao Noodle just a block away. We love their dumplings and family-style dining.

Take in a Broadway Show

A trip to New York City feels incomplete without a trip to Broadway. Waitress, a hit musical featuring singer Sarah Bareilles (through February 3rd) is sure to leave you hungry for more (and hungry for pie). Make sure you get your tickets for this popular show ahead of time to get a seat. If you book your trip during Broadway Week, you’ll even be able to get 2-for-1 tickets to many fan-favorite shows!

Getting to New York City is faster and safer than ever with C&J Bus Lines. Our first-class coaches let you spend more time in the city and less time worrying about parking and traffic. For more ideas to help you plan your trip to NYC this winter, check out our interactive map of the city.
