Carbon Foot Print

C&J has contracted MJ Bradley and Associates, a Washington Research firm, for the development of a formula to calculate the company’s carbon foot print related to the reduction of carbon monoxide and other pollutants resulting from automobile emissions. In addition to the C&J footprint calculator, we are also providing a Passenger footprint calculator for our travelers to view their individual savings and contributions to reducing emissions.

“One of the first steps to reducing our carbon footprint is to provide education and awareness, our passengers play vital roles in the improvement of the environment each time they take the bus and we felt it important to quantify how much by offering these tools to our customers.”, says Jim Jalbert, company President.

By riding C&J and supporting motorcoach transportation, you are taking the greenest mode of travel, and here are some of the reasons why;

C&J FOOTPRINT CALCULATOR

The Statistics are based on June 2008
By taking the bus, our customers have NOT DRIVEN their own cars,

1,483,376
miles this month
8.66
million miles this year
17.19
million miles in the past 12 months

have saved this much fuel and money *,

40,280
gallons of gasoline this month, and $147,830 in fuel savings
223,124
gallons of gasoline this month, and $386,655 in fuel savings
439,353
gallons of gasoline this month, and $1,635,656 in fuel savings

and have NOT RELEASED this much CARBON DIOXIDE to contribute to global warming**:

376
tons CO2 this month
2,085
tons CO2 this year
4,106
tons CO2 in the past 12 months

Other pollutants NOT EMITTED by our customer's cars include***:

This Month This Year Last 12 Months
NOx
-0.53 -3.79 -7.74
PM
0.10 0.56 1.11
CO
4.87 27.45 54.22
VOC
0.10 0.40 0.75

* Net of the fuel used to power our buses. Price of gasoline = $3.89 a gallon
** Net of CO2 emitted by our buses
*** Net of emissions from our buses

Passenger Foot Print Calculater

In the last 12 months, how many times have you taken the bus? We calculate for you the cost and environmental benefits below.

(please follow the steps)

Choose Location
Number of one way trips made in the last 12 months example (100)
MPG (example. 22.00)
Price per gallon (example 3.89)
You avoided driving miles in your own car.
You saved
gallons of gasoline and...
in fuel costs.

and you DID NOT Emmit into the atmospere *
pounds carbon dioxide (CO2)
pounds nitrogen oxides (NOx)
pounds particulate (PM)
pounds carbon monoxide (CO)
pounds volatile organic carbon (VOC)

* Net of average bus emissions per passenger mile. If "NO DATA" is shown it is because average bus emissions for the previous 12 months are not available. Negative ( ) numbers mean that bus emissions per passenger mile are higher than emissions from your car.
